How we carry ourselves in the lounge.

This is my house, and while you are in it, you are family. So we carry ourselves the way family does — with respect. Everything below comes down to that one word.

Respect, above all. Speak to every member as you would a guest in your own home. Disagree like a gentleman; the leaf is the great equalizer here — we are all simply men and women who love a fine cigar.
Keep it clean. No foul language, no crude talk, no insults. This is a lounge, not a gutter. Mind your tongue and you will always have a chair by the fire.
No hostility, no harassment. We do not threaten, we do not bully, we do not corner a man. If you have a quarrel, you settle it like grown people — or you let it go.
No hatred. Contempt for any man or woman over who they are finds no welcome here. None.
Honor the room. No spam, no peddling, no dragging in business that does not belong. We are here for the smoke and the good company.
Mind your words. Carry yourself as though every word may be remembered — because in my lounge, it is.
The Don’s Word

Understand this plainly, and with no hard feelings: a place in this lounge is a privilege, not a right — mine to give, and mine to take. I am not quick to the door, though. More often there is a quiet word first, perhaps a pause on your standing while tempers cool. But should it come to it, any member may be shown the door at any time for a breach of the Code, their membership revoked. That is my call, always.

And hear this, because it matters to me: you will never lose your humidor on my account. Before any door closes, pack it up and take it with you — export your collection, your notes, your ratings, and carry them wherever you go next. What you built here remains yours.

So you know exactly where you stand:

  • Paid by the year? There is no refund for the time remaining.
  • Pay by the month? You keep nothing back for the month you are in — but you will not be charged a cent for any month after.

No surprises, no fine print. Conduct yourself with respect, and none of this will ever touch you.
